5.6 The maintenance process

In the operation of the SIS, extensive records and security copies occur which will be saved in the SIS data base. The SIS maintenance process enables the automatic control of the memory usage by an age-related adjustment of the data base. For the setting, no setting resource or template is necessary. You can always set up the process directly from the process plugin.

The maintenance process can adjust the security memory, the records, the queues, the record files and the modification memory. For each of these areas, an individual age can be provided in days. In addition, an archiving can be configurated which saves the records when deleting them from the SIS data base in a path as a file. Each record will be saved there as XML file.

In order to implement the maintenance process regularly, a time-controlling still needs to be defined. Practically, a daily implementation can be recommended. After saving the configurated process, you just need to activate the time-control.

The maintenance of the security memory includes two exceptions. The first and the last security of a record will not be removed. These entries can be recommended as especially valuable for the control of the integration. The first security is interesting for integrations with compliance regulations or migrations as it has not been changed by a certain process respecively the SIS. The last security will be reproached so that it will not be deleted due to the age before a situation can be examined if applicable.

Do not operate a productive integration without an active maintenance process!

If you are operating several SIS server in a framework, it is recommended to set up an own maintenance process for each server and allocate it fixed with the characteristic "SIS server limitation". Background are the arising record files in the SIS server which will only be controlled in the implementing server. The memory usage is in contrast to the data base information indeed significantly lower, but without a fixed allocation, a regular maintenance cannot be guaranteed.
